At NEW WAVE we use The Listening in Spatialized Noise – Sentences Test, or LiSN-S to test for Auditory Processing Disorder. LiSN-S is a breakthrough in the acoustic assessment of children.
The Listening in Spatialized Noise – Sentences Test, assesses the ability of children to understand speech when there is noise coming from different directions. Understanding speech in competing noise is a common problem found in children with auditory processing disorder (APD).
The brain works by using directional cues when sound reaches the left and right ears at different times and different levels. By measuring a child's speech understanding when noises are arriving from different directions, we can accurately recreate real-life situations such as noisy classrooms, in which children can encounter severe communication challenges.
If your child is diagnosed with APD, our audiologists will find the most suitable solutions and strategies in order to ease the listening difficulties.
